ILLINOIS TO RECEIVE FEDERAL EDUCATION FUNDS

By Mark Wells Aug 28, 2025 | 5:55 AM

Illinois is reaching an agreement to receive federal education funding. State Attorney General Kwame Raoul says the agreement requires the Trump administration to release the full balance of around 219-million-dollars in education funds owed to Illinois no later than October 3rd. The money supports critical programs, including after-school enrichment, workforce development and instruction for students learning English. The deal comes after Raoul joined a multistate lawsuit in July challenging the Trump administration’s freeze on nearly seven-billion-dollars in education grants before the start of the school year.
