COOLER TEMPERATURES AND DRY WEATHER EXPECTED FOR LABOR DAY WEEKEND

Southern Illinois and much of the Ohio Valley are in for a stretch of cooler and more comfortable weather heading into the upcoming Labor Day weekend.

Persistent high pressure is bringing a noticeable change, with temperatures expected to run 5 to 10 degrees below seasonal norms. Highs will generally stay in the 70s to lower 80s, paired with low humidity levels.

Today, forecasters say the high pressure system will be firmly in place, ensuring dry conditions for outdoor holiday plans. Dew points will remain in the lower to middle 50s, keeping the air pleasant and free of the usual late-summer mugginess.

The cooler, drier pattern is expected to hold through the holiday weekend, making for ideal conditions for parades, cookouts, and other outdoor festivities. Looking ahead, a return to warmer temperatures is possible early next week as southerly winds develop.

For now, residents can expect plenty of sunshine and a classic end-of-summer forecast.
