Governor JB Pritzker joined Mt. Vernon Mayor John Lewis Thursday to cut the ribbon on Manner Polymers’ new manufacturing facility in Jefferson County.
The company’s $54 million investment brings 60 new jobs to the region and features an 80,000-square-foot plant powered by a 15-acre on-site solar field.
“Not only will we incorporate the most advanced manufacturing control systems available, but we will also produce substantially all of the electricity that we use,” said Raj Bhargava, CEO of Manner Polymers. “Our objective is to build the lowest cost, highest quality, most environmentally sustainable flexible PVC compounding plant in the world.”
Manner Polymers manufactures plastic compounds for industries including automotive, appliance, construction, telecommunications, industrial, medical, and agriculture.
Governor Pritzker praised the company’s decision, saying, “I couldn’t be prouder that Manner Polymers has selected Illinois for their state-of-the-art, 100% solar-powered facility.”
The company chose Illinois over competing sites in Arkansas, Missouri, Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee.
