David F. Nelson, 79, of Norris City, IL., passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Deaconess Midtown in Evansville, IN. He was born on February 19, 1946, in Eldorado, IL., the son of Doyle and Norinne (Beaty) Nelson. David married Brenda (York) Nelson on March 31, 1967, and together they shared over 58 years of marriage. David proudly joined the U.S. Navy and served in the Mediterranean during the Vietnam War. Following his time in the service, he worked at Hayden’s Mill and drove semi-trucks for Roark Trucking. He was a lifetime member of the Norris City American Legion and National Rifle Association.
David is survived by his wife, Brenda Nelson of Norris City, his two sons, Mike (Junalie) Nelson of Omaha, IL. and Robert (Tracy) Nelson of Raleigh, IL.; three grandchildren, Dustin (Cailee) Nelson, Kyley (Audree) Nelson, and Ally Nelson; a great-grandson, Brantley Nelson; a sister and her children, Diane (Bob) Burns, T.J. Burns, and Elise (Zach) Israel; and great-nieces, Evie and Ada. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services for David F. Nelson will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City. Burial will follow at I.O.O.F Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in David’s memory to your favorite charity, and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City, who is assisting the family with arrangements.
