JASPER SCHOOL BOARD APPROVES NEW SUPERINTENDENT, STAFF HIRES AT JULY MEETING

The Jasper School Board of Education met July 17th and has released details of their meeting.
Board members approved the consent agenda, including minutes, financial reports, and bills. Several personnel matters were also addressed. Jaxon King was hired as an individual aide at $15 per hour, pending background checks. Board President Josh Zurliene was approved as baseball coach for the 2025–26 season with a $1,000 stipend, abstaining from his own vote.
The board also authorized expenditures ahead of the final adoption of the fiscal year 2026 budget and approved the superintendent’s contract. Following an executive session, members approved the minutes from closed session discussions.
In major action, the board voted to hire Matt Shreve as superintendent for the 2025–2027 school years. The vote carried with one dissent.
Additionally, Justin Atwood was appointed Secretary Pro-Tempore.
Board member Caitlin Glisson was absent from the meeting.
