Ivan Lavern Porter, 81, of Cisne

Ivan Lavern Porter, 81, of Cisne, IL passed away Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, in Marion, IL.

Ivan was born April 28, 1944, in. Berry Township, Wayne County IL, to Clarence and Floral (Turner) Porter.

Ivan retired from the Wayne County Highway Department as a heavy machine operator /mechanic and took pride in his job.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran during the Vietnam era. If Ivan did not already have an obligation, he volunteered a great deal of his time to help or attend a military funeral for the local veterans in the surrounding local areas. He never wanted any recognition for anything he did. He was a member of the Flora VFW Post 3999 for over thirty years. He enjoyed playing pool at the local VFW and visiting with his friends.

Ivan is survived by his son, Kyle Porter of Oolitic, IN; one grandson, Miles Porter; and brother-in-law, Paul Gibson of Cisne, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Katheryn Kay Porter; one brother Robert Porter his sister Donna Gibson and special friend Ramona Richards.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 2:00pm in Cisne Cemetery. Friends and family are asked to go directly to the cemetery.

Military Honors will be conducted by the Flora VFW, Flora American Legion, and the Louisville American Legion.

Memorial donations in memory of Ivan may be given to the Flora VFW and will be accepted at the cemetery.
