The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department reports a juvenile was arrested Monday following reports of vehicle burglaries at the Mt. Vernon Gun and Sportsman Club on North Miller Lake Lane.
Deputies were called yesterday morning after a female was reportedly attempting to burglarize vehicles at the club. The suspect had left before deputies arrived, and a report was taken.
About four hours later, deputies located the suspect vehicle near the intersection of Liberty Road and Shawnee Street. Contact was made with the occupants, and the driver, a 17-year-old female juvenile, was identified as the offender. Authorities say she had unlawfully entered vehicles at the Sportsman Club with the intent to commit theft.
The juvenile was arrested for burglary, processed, and later released to a guardian. Officials note that she is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
