The Fairfield Lions Club will host free hearing screenings on Wednesday, September 10th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Community of Christ Church on Windsor Lane in Fairfield. Also that day, the American Red Cross in conjunction with the Lions Club will hold a blood drive from 11:30am to 5:30 pm. The hearing screenings are offered through a partnership with the Lions of Illinois Foundation and are available at no cost to individuals ages eight and older.
Hearing loss affects an estimated 15 million Americans, and some cases can be prevented through healthy hearing practices and awareness of damage risks. The Fairfield Lions Club notes the test is a basic screening to identify possible hearing problems. Anyone showing signs of hearing loss will be encouraged to follow up with a physician or audiologist.
