FREE KIDNEY AND HEALTH SCREENING COMING TO CLAY COUNTY SEPTEMBER 23RD

By Mark Wells Sep 4, 2025 | 11:56 AM

The National Kidney Foundation of Illinois is partnering with the Clay County Health Department to provide a free kidney and health screening for community members on Tuesday, September 23rd, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the health department.

The screening, offered through the KidneyMobile will check for kidney disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes—the leading causes of kidney failure. No appointment is necessary, but participants may pre-register by scanning the QR code on the Clay County Health Department’s website or by visiting mobilescreening.nkfi.org/preregistration.

Along with the screening, attendees will have the chance to speak privately with a medical professional about their results and receive resources to support kidney health. Participants should be prepared to provide a urine sample, but fasting is not required.

The KidneyMobile is the only mobile screening unit in the nation dedicated to detecting kidney disease and its risk factors. Since its launch, it has screened more than 60,000 Illinois residents. Alarmingly, over 75 percent of those tested were found to have at least one significantly abnormal result.

Each year, kidney disease claims more lives than breast and prostate cancer combined, yet awareness of risk factors and testing remains low. The National Kidney Foundation of Illinois hopes this event will help more people take proactive steps to protect their health.
