Fairfield Memorial Hospital is pleased to host Carrie Downen, a Foster Parent Recruiter with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) on Tuesday, September 9th from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in The MAC Education Room at Horizon Healthcare in Fairfield. This is open to the public.
Carrie will be available to share information about the need for foster parents and community resources that support children in care. She will also provide materials for individuals and families interested in becoming foster parents.
At 12:00 p.m., Carrie will give a 15–20 minute presentation on child welfare, highlighting the current needs and how community members can make a difference.
Currently, more than 17,000 children are in the care of DCFS across Illinois, including over 160 children in Jefferson County alone. Carrie’s role is to connect with organizations and individuals who can help provide loving, stable homes for these children while also strengthening communities through awareness and resources.
This event is open to all who are interested in learning more about foster parenting or supporting child welfare efforts in the region.
