Lifelong Wayne County resident, Matt Vaughn has announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for Wayne County Resident Judge in the March 2026 primary election.
Vaughn was appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court in February to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Michael J. Molt. Since then, Vaughn has served as Resident Judge of Wayne County.
“It has been an honor to serve as Resident Judge of Wayne County, but more work remains,” Vaughn said. “Since I’ve been on the bench, I have been appalled by the lack of respect and conduct of criminal defendants in Wayne County. Things are better, but I’m just getting started. There is work to be done.”
The Republican primary will be held on March 17, 2026.
