The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department reports two recent arrests.
On Tuesday around 10:30 p.m., deputies attempted to stop a motorcycle on County Highway 9 north of Sims. The driver refused to stop, and a short pursuit followed. The motorcycle eventually came to a stop, and deputies arrested 47-year-old Phillip E. Ray Jr. of Johnsonville.
A search revealed Ray was in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Wayne County Jail without incident. Ray faces charges of:
Possession of methamphetamine
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Fleeing or attempting to elude a peace officer
On Wednesday, deputies arrested 43-year-old Joanna L. Lane of Springerton on a Wayne County warrant charging her with fraud. The charge stems from an investigation into a fraudulently altered check.
Lane was booked into the Wayne County Jail pending court proceedings
