FLORA MAYOR RICK SLAUGHTER RETIRES

Flora Mayor Rick Slaughter has officially retired, submitting his resignation during his final city council meeting Tuesday evening.

Slaughter has served as mayor for the past four years and previously held a seat as a Flora City Commissioner. Over the years, he has also been a business owner, worked at Frank and Bright Funeral Home, and drove a school bus.

City council members will appoint a new mayor at their meeting on Monday, September 15th. The appointee will serve until the next municipal election on April 6th, 2027.
