Pete Crow-Armstrong drove-in a pair of runs as Chicago snapped a three-game skid. The Northsiders remain in second place in the NL Central at 82-and-63. They return to action against the Braves this evening.

Seattle Mariners 5, St. Louis Cardinals 3              The St. Louis Cardinals surrendered a pair of home runs during a 5-3 loss to the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park. The Cardinals gave up two runs in the bottom of the fourth and trailed the rest of the way. Matthew Liberatore was charged with his 12th loss after allowing five runs on six hits in four innings. St. Louis has dropped its last two games. The Cardinals aim to avoid being swept when they finish up their series against the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park tonight. The Cardinals are in fourth place in the NL Central with a 72-and-73 record. Michael McGreevy takes the mound for St. Louis. First pitch is set for 8:40PM.

(Philadelphia, PA) — The NFL is punishing Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Jalen Carter for spitting on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. Multiple reports say Carter will not appeal the league’s punishment, which includes a fine over 57-thousand-dollars. Carter was ejected before the first snap of the regular season for the action, which he later apologized for. The league says his ejection will count as a one-game suspension. The Eagles play the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday for a Super Bowl rematch.

(San Francisco, CA) — The San Francisco 49ers are placing superstar tight end George Kittle on injured reserve. Multiple sources report Kittle will miss at least four games. San Francisco will play those games over the next 23 days, including Thursday Night Football in Week Five against the Los Angeles Rams. Kittle hurt his hamstring during the team’s season opener against the Seattle Seahawks. He finished the game with four receptions for 25 yards and a touchdown. In other team news, the 49ers waived kicker Jake Moody.

(Pittsburgh, PA) — The Steelers are bringing in some safety help. Head coach Mike Tomlin told the media on Tuesday that Jabrill Peppers is expected to join the team. Starter DeShon Elliott suffered a knee injury in Pittsburgh’s win over the Jets and will miss the team’s home opener against the Seahawks. Peppers spent the last three seasons with the Patriots and will face his former team in Week Three.

(Miami, FL) — The Dolphins are taking a gamble on a former first-round pick. The team signed Cole Strange from the Browns’ practice squad on Tuesday. The offensive lineman was taken 29th-overall in the 2022 draft by the Patriots, who will square off against Miami in the Sunshine State on Sunday. The news comes after starting guard James Daniels was placed on injured reserve with a pectoral injury.

(Miami, FL) — A star player on the Dolphins is dealing with concerning accusations. TMZ reports Tyreek Hill is the subject of domestic violence incidents involving his estranged wife. Keeta Vaccaro accused Hill of eight separate cases of domestic violence in divorce court filings. The receiver’s attorney denied the allegations and said they’re an attempt to generate “bad” media coverage.

(Boulder, CO) — Coach Prime and the Colorado Buffaloes have a new starting quarterback. ESPN is reporting that Colorado is making Ryan Staub the team’s starter for its game against Houston on Friday. The redshirt sophomore began the season as the team’s third-string QB behind Liberty transfer Kaidon Salter and five-star freshman Julian Lewis. Staub completed 7-of-10 passes for 157 yards and two touchdowns in Colorado’s win over Delaware last weekend to lead the team to its first victory of the season.

(Toronto, ON) — The Astros received a major blow to their starting rotation on Tuesday. Houston right-hander Luis Garcia departed his start in the second inning with an apparent injury. Garcia was making his second start after sitting out more than two years while recovering from Tommy John surgery. He threw 27 pitches before motioning to the dugout because of the injury. The 28-year-old has been limited to just eight starts since the beginning of the 2023 season.

(Undated) — The Bulls are inking one of their starting five to a long-term contract. Chicago and restricted free agent Josh Giddey have reached an agreement on a four-year, 100-million-dollar contract to re-sign with the Bulls. The deal is fully guaranteed and has no player or team options. The 22-year-old scored 14.6 points per game while also recording career-highs in rebounds, assists, steals and three-point field goal percentage. He also posted seven triple-doubles in his first season with the team after being acquired in a trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder during the 2024 offseason.

(Tampa, FL) — The main investors behind the prospective new Rays ownership group are meeting this week with Major League Baseball’s ownership committee. It’s an important step in gaining approval of the one-point-seven-billion-dollar deal. The Tampa Bay Times says if the committee is satisfied with the financial information and the vetting of the investors, they’ll pass on a recommendation to the full MLB ownership, which will vote on the deal. A three-quarters approval is required. The sale of the Rays is expected to be completed by late this month or early October.
