At a recent meeting of the Wayne City Village Board, the board approved the 2025–26 ambulance tax levy in the amount of $74,500. Trustees also authorized the purchase of an odorizer from USDI at a cost of $143,850, with the expense to be spread across two fiscal years.
In other action, the board moved forward with efforts to gather more concrete figures for the Keenes sewer project and approved Resolution #2025-9-1, a resolution for maintenance under the Illinois Highway Code.
A proposed camping ordinance was tabled until the October meeting, while Ordinance #360-B, regulating solicitors in the village, was approved. Trustees also voted to allocate up to $500 for the replacement of basketball rims in the village park.
Routine business included approval of the treasurer’s report, bills, and various staff and trustee reports. Discussion on a proposed Scada system with Sims was tabled until October.
The board also granted approval for signage requested by a renter to be placed on a village-owned building.
