A Carmi man was taken into custody in Evansville Saturday after police say a Flock camera alert flagged a stolen vehicle traveling in the city.
Evansville Police identified the driver as 33-year-old Daniel K. Poshard. Officers located the vehicle in the parking lot of Pawn 2 Cash on Weinbach Avenue. Inside, they reported finding methamphetamine, a syringe, multiple firearms, and more than 60 hand and power tools. One of the firearms was confirmed stolen out of Illinois. Additional firearms and tools were also suspected to be stolen, though serial numbers were unavailable for confirmation.
Poshard now faces several Indiana charges, including:
Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon
Theft of a Firearm
Auto Theft
Possession of Methamphetamine
Possession of Paraphernalia
Criminal Conversion
In White County, Poshard has an ongoing case after being charged July 3rd with Driving on a Suspended/Revoked License in relation to a DUI, a Class 4 Felony. He appeared in court September 2nd with a preliminary hearing set for October 6th.
This is not his first run-in with the law. In late 2022, Poshard was convicted of Burglary after thousands of dollars’ worth of shoes were stolen from the Carmi Christmas Elves non-profit. He was sentenced to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections and ordered to pay $7,500 in restitution.
