Fairfield will soon welcome artists from across the region as the Fairfield PaintOut begins tomorrow (Tuesday) and continues this week bringing creativity and vibrant color to Wayne County.
Throughout the week, artists will set up across the county to capture landscapes, landmarks, and everyday scenes. Many will stay with host families, giving them a chance to fully experience the community.
The event kicks off Tuesday evening with a 5 p.m. orientation at Fusion Coffee. On Wednesday, artists will paint during the day, then gather for a meal and fellowship at the home of Dena Stout. A special nocturne paint, focused on nighttime scenes, will also be held.
Thursday’s highlight is a Quick Paint at Cider Barn Tree Farm, where artists begin setting up at 7 a.m. and paint from 7:30 to 9 a.m., followed by brunch. The remainder of the day will allow painters to choose their own locations throughout the county.
By Friday afternoon, all artwork must be submitted to Fairfield CP Church by 3:30 p.m. for the evening art show. The exhibit opens at 5 p.m. for award sponsors, then to the public from 6 to 8 p.m. for the Premier Exhibit and Sales.
On Saturday morning, the church will be closed until 10 a.m. while judging takes place. This year’s judge, Farley Lewis, will also present a public demonstration titled “Capturing the Magic of Water.” Awards will be announced at noon.
Organizers say the PaintOut is more than an art event — it’s a chance for the community to celebrate creativity and experience Wayne County through the eyes of talented artists.
