FAIRFIELD GRADE SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD REVIEWS BUDGET, TRANSPORTATION REPAIRS, AND STAFF CHANGES AT RECENT MEETING

The Fairfield Grade School District Board of Education met recently to discuss a range of financial, operational, and personnel matters. The Revenue and Expense Report indicated that the district has received 9% of its anticipated revenue and expended 14% of its FY26 budget so far.

In the Food Service Report, the current food service balance was reported at $253,990.43.

The Transportation Report detailed several recent repairs and inspections across the district’s bus fleet:

Bus #1: State inspection, chassis repair, brake pads, miscellaneous repairs, tires, valve stems, mount & balance ($2,283.84)

Bus #3: Safety inspection, replaced spot mirror, replaced exhaust clamp, tightened front end bolts ($506.20)

Bus #5: Safety inspection, tires, valve stems, mount & balance ($946.17)

Bus #9: Safety lane sticker, lights and plug replacement, tires, valve stems, mount & balance ($1,146.02)

Bus #10: Lube, oil, and filter change ($172.13)

Bus #13: Safety inspection ($61)

The annual Salary and Benefits Report for FY25 will be posted to the district website as part of ongoing transparency efforts. On the topic of Commercial Insurance, the district will be going out to bid this year, with a timeline for the process shared during the meeting. Superintendent, Kristina Gardner shared the FY26 School Improvement Plan from the district’s first planning meeting.

The Curriculum Report highlighted that K-8 students are currently using Great Minds Eureka Math Squared (2021), with a review underway for FY27 curriculum. K-5 students are using McGraw Hill Wonders (2023) through 2029-2030, Science for grades 4-8 is Savvas-Elevate Science through 2029-2030, and Social Studies/History uses various versions of McGraw Hill materials.

Following a closed session, the board took action on several personnel items:

Accepted the resignation of Kayla Murphy as paraprofessional.
Employed Marissa Rottinghaus as a paraprofessional.
Accepted the resignation of Kim Williams as bus driver.
Employed Amanda Hicks as a bus driver.
