The Clay County Health Department will host free Car Seat Safety Checks on Friday, September 26th, from Noon to 4 p.m. Certified child passenger safety technicians will inspect car seats to ensure they are not expired, are properly installed, and fit each child correctly. Parents and caregivers can also ask questions at no cost.
This event is part of Illinois Child Passenger Safety Week (September 21–27), which reminds families that state law requires children to use a car seat until age 8 and remain rear-facing until at least age 2. With 3 out of 4 car seats installed incorrectly, these free checks are a valuable opportunity to keep kids safe.
