During Monday night’s meeting of the Grayville City council, Auditor Arlynne Davis presented her report on the city’s finances for the fiscal year ending April 30th Davis found no material issues, noting that the financial statements were reasonable and that the city’s general fund finished in a strong position.

The audit showed total assets of $647,046 and liabilities of $104,000, leaving nearly $543,000 in fund equity. Revenues for the year topped $2.2 million, while expenditures came in just over $2 million, leaving a surplus of $237,000.

Also at the meeting, members of the public spoke in support of ongoing efforts at Oak Grove Cemetery. A procedural snag temporarily delayed approval of a planned 12-by-15-foot mural, but the matter was quickly resolved, and the council agreed to allow the project to move forward.

Beth Green addressed the council with a proposal to establish a matching gift opportunity aimed at cemetery preservation, including tree restoration, monument care, and potential improvements to tombstones. She will meet with the cemetery committee to explore next steps.

In other action, the council approved the Grayville Ministerial Association’s request to conduct bell ringing at the main intersection on December 6th. Commissioners also approved a lift station pump quote for Road Ranger at $8,496, though the purchase will be delayed until necessary in hopes of including it in next year’s budget.

Engineer Rex Grunloh reported that the city’s water main replacement project is nearly complete, with only final walkthroughs and fixes remaining. Commissioners authorized what is expected to be one of the final pay estimates for the project.
