The Wayne City High School Prom Committee, led by sponsor Angie Kelly, will host its annual 5K Color Run on Friday, September 26 at 6 p.m. The event will kick off Bean Days weekend and serve as a fundraiser to support the school’s prom.

The race will begin in the high school’s west parking lot and cover 3.2 miles through city streets. Advance registration is $20 and includes a free race shirt. Participants may run or walk and are encouraged to bring their own flashlights.

The Color Run typically draws more than 100 participants each year, with students volunteering to help track runners’ times and toss colorful powder along the route. Volunteer Kaylee Bullard said she enjoys helping out because the proceeds benefit prom and “it is fun to help.” Abbie Young added she looks forward to taking pictures for the yearbook and journalism class.

At the finish line, medals and $100 prizes will be awarded to the top male and female runners.
