On Wednesday night at approximately 8:10 p.m., a Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputy on patrol in Fairfield attempted to stop a motorcycle that was traveling without lights. Instead of stopping, the motorcycle fled, and a second vehicle appeared to interfere with the deputy’s pursuit by pulling into the oncoming lane to block the squad car.
The deputy was able to get around the vehicle and continue pursuit, but the motorcycle drove through yards and was eventually lost from sight. Additional deputies and Fairfield Police officers joined the search.
A short time later, law enforcement located both vehicles and determined that two juveniles were behind the wheel. Both were booked on charges of fleeing and eluding and obstructing a peace officer before being released.
