A major drug and weapons bust in Eldorado Friday afternoon led to the recovery of multiple stolen firearms and a large quantity of methamphetamine, thanks to a joint effort between White County and Saline County law enforcement.
Around 1 p.m., a White County Sheriff’s Deputy received credible information that two firearms previously reported stolen in September had been traded for narcotics at a residence on Highland Street in Eldorado. The drugs obtained in exchange for the weapons were allegedly brought back to White County for distribution.
Following the tip, a search warrant was obtained for the residence. White County Sheriff Jordan Weiss coordinated the operation with the Saline County Sheriff’s Department and the Eldorado Police Department.
During the search, officers detained John N. Williams, who was seen leaving a building on the property. Authorities recovered two stolen firearms from White County, another reported stolen from Saline County, and an additional 42 firearms, including a suppressed pistol and a rifle modified for fully automatic fire. Roughly 3.8 pounds of suspected crystal methamphetamine and numerous rounds of ammunition were also seized.
Williams was arrested and taken to the Saline County Jail. Sheriff Weiss expressed gratitude to the assisting agencies — including the Norris City Police Department — for their cooperation and swift action.
The investigation remains ongoing.
