The Illinois Department of Agriculture has announced the candidates for the upcoming Illinois Wheat Development Board election, scheduled for October 30th.

In District VI, which includes Clay County, Jamie Harvel has qualified to appear on the ballot. Brandon Warren of Wayne County will be running as an at-large candidate.

Jerry Costello II, Director of the Illinois Department of Agriculture, stated, “Illinois wheat producers play an important role in both our state’s agricultural strength and the nation’s food supply. By working together and sharing their perspectives, growers can help ensure continued innovation, market growth, and long-term success for the industry.”

Qualified wheat producers interested in serving as an At-Large or District Board member may still participate as write-in candidates on Election Day. To be eligible, producers must be of legal voting age, reside in the district for which they are running, and be a qualified wheat producer.

Absentee ballots are available for those unable to vote in person by contacting the Illinois Department of Agriculture at 217-524-1083 or by emailing agr.marketnews@illinois.gov. Most counties will hold in-person voting at local Farm Bureau offices during normal business hours.
