The Fairfield Lady Mules Volleyball team traveled to Flora Tuesday night for another Black Diamond Conference matchup. The Lady Mules Varsity squad got the victory over the Lady Wolves in 2 sets, 25-15 & 25-12. The JV squad also got by Flora in 2 sets, 25-16 & 25-12. The Lady Mules Frosh squad opened the night with a 2-set victory, 25-16 & 25-12. The Lady Mules now move to 17-7 overall and 4-2 in the BDC East. They will next face off with Hamilton County on Thursday night at the Mule Barn.

MT CARMEL WINS 7th SECTIONAL
The quest for a fifth straight State Golf Championship continues for the Lady Aces, as they took another major step on Monday. Mt Carmel won another Golf Sectional, their seventh, with a sizzling team score of 294 on the University of Illinois course.
The Lady Aces won by 28 strokes over second place Effingham St Anthony, and they were led by Zeme Moore who shot a round of 69, which is -3 under par. Miley Kennard was on her heels with a -2 under par, 70. Ava Brumagin was also a Medalist with a 77. Mt Carmel, St Anthony, and Monticello all advance to the IHSA Class 1A State Golf Tournament this weekend at Red Tail Run.

JR HIGH GIRLS SOFTBALL CLASS S STATE SEMIFINAL
The New Hope Lady Panthers have once again advanced to the Class S State Championship game after defeating a tough Summersville team 3-1 in what turned in to a pitcher’s duel. New Hope will now face a 4-loss Pinckneyville 204 team that got by Willow Grove-St. Mary’s 2-1 in 9 innings. The Championship game will be on Thursday at 2:15 pm on Field A1 at the Oasis Sports Complex in Marion

(St. Louis, MO) — The St. Louis Blues are gearing up for their first game of the season. The Blues host the Minnesota Wild at Enterprise Center tomorrow night. St. Louis has made the postseason in five of the last seven seasons. Tomorrow night’s game is scheduled to get underway at 7:00PM. The St. Louis Blues won’t have one of their centers to begin the 2025-26 season. The team announced yesterday that Oskar Sundqvist is week-to-week with a lower-body injury. The 31-year-old suffered the setback during a practice on Sunday. Sundqvist is in the third year of his second stint with the Blues. He had six goals and 14 assists in 67 games last season.

(Undated) — Two American League ballclubs are now locked into 2-1 Division round series. The Mariners took down the Tigers 8-4 from Detroit to pull ahead in the best-of-five series. The Yankees staved-off elimination after edging the Blue Jays 9-6 from the Bronx. All eight teams are in action on Wednesday. Seattle will try to advance past Detroit in the Motor City, the Brewers hope to sweep the Cubs in the NLDS from Wrigley, New York will once again attempt to stay alive against Toronto in front of its home crowd and the defending champion Dodgers are eying a sweep of the Phillies from LA to make the NLCS.

(East Rutherford, NJ) — Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart says he’ll be ready to go for Thursday Night Football. Dart, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury, said there is no doubt that he will be playing in Thursday night’s battle against the Philadelphia Eagles at MetLife Stadium. The 22-year-old had been listed as a limited participant in practice before being a full participant in Tuesday’s walkthrough.

(Undated) — The Ravens and Chargers swapped defensive players on Tuesday. Baltimore sent pass rusher Odafe Oweh [[ \uh-DAH-fay OH-way ]] and a 2027 seventh-round draft pick to Los Angeles in exchange for safety Alohi [[ uh-LOE-hee ]] Gilman and a fifth-round pick in 2026. Oweh had a career-high 10 sacks for the Ravens last season, but has not secured one this season. Gilman has 22 total tackles in five games for Los Angeles this season.

(Tempe, AZ) — Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon’s wallet is reportedly lighter today. According to ESPN, Gannon was fined $100,000 by the team for his confrontation with running back Emari Demercado [[ ee-MAR-ee dee-mer-KAH-doh ]] during Sunday’s loss to the Titans. Demercado fumbled the ball just short of the goal line, negating a score that would have put Arizona up 27-6 in the fourth quarter. Gannon told reporters that he apologized to Demercado and the team on Monday.

(Jacksonville, FL) — The Jaguars are going to be without one of their depth pieces on offense for a month. The team placed Brenton Strange on injured reserve with a hip issue. NFL rules require him to miss at least four weeks. The tight end got hurt during Jacksonville’s comeback win over the Chiefs on Monday Night Football. Strange has 20 catches for more than 200 yards this year.

(Indianapolis, IN) — The Colts have replaced their kicker. Indianapolis signed veteran Michael Badgley on Tuesday to replace Spencer Shrader, who suffered a season-ending right knee injury in the team’s win over the Raiders. Head coach Shane Steichen confirmed earlier in the week that Shrader tore two ligaments in the knee. Badgley returns to Indy after missing the 2024 season with a torn hamstring.

According to Nick Sanchez, “this has been a deeply distressing time for everyone involved,” and he says that his brother “is focused on his recovery as the legal process continues.” Authorities say Sanchez assaulted a 69-year-old truck driver at a hotel loading dock, and the driver claims to have stabbed the former New York Jets star in self-defense. Sanchez was officially charged with three misdemeanors, and he has a battery charge that was upgraded to a felony.

The organization filed a countersuit Tuesday alleging a former vice president participated in an “unlawful conspiracy” to falsely accuse the team president of sexual harassment. The Jets argue that team president Hymie Elhai was accused of sexual harassment “solely for the purpose of destroying his impeccable reputation and career.” Former vice president of finance Elaine Chen claims in a lawsuit that she and her husband Larry Fitzpatrick were fired as retaliation after claims were made against Elhai.

(Phoenix, AZ) — The Aces and Mercury will continue the WNBA Finals tonight. Phoenix will host Las Vegas for Game Three. The Aces lead the series two games to none after holding serve at home. Las Vegas came from behind to beat Phoenix in Game One 89-86 last Friday behind 21 points each from A’ja Wilson and Dana Evans. Kahleah Copper had 21 of her own for Phoenix in the loss. In Game Two, the Aces cruised to a 91-78 victory. Jackie Young led the way for Las Vegas with 32 points and Wilson added 28 points and 14 rebounds. Copper again led the Mercury with 23 points, while Satou Sabally had 22 of her own.
>>Rays Owners Want To Repair Tropicana Field
(St. Petersburg, FL) — The Rays are committed to Tropicana Field. That’s according to the new ownership group led by Patrick Zalupski, which hopes to repair the stadium before the start of next season. The roof got damaged by Hurricane Milton a year ago and the team was forced to play home games at the Yankees’ Spring Training field. Zalupski still wants to find a new ballpark for the 2029 season.
