Fire crews were called to a structure fire early this (Thursday) morning at 607 NW 9th Street, the former residence of Butch Rogers in Fairfield.
The Fairfield City Fire Department and Fairfield Rural Fire Department, along with Wayne County Ambulance, responded to the scene shortly after 4 a.m. Units arriving on the scene indicated flames were visible.
The home was vacant at the time of the fire, and according to sources, family members were in the process of trying to sell the property.
The Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office has been called in to investigate the cause of the blaze.
