By Mark Wells Oct 9, 2025 | 5:59 AM

Fairfield Community High School (FCHS) is opening its doors to the public with a new Monthly Speaker Series beginning tonight inviting students, parents, and community members to connect, learn, and share their input on important topics throughout the school year.

The series will feature scheduled events on a variety of subjects, ranging from school renovations and college planning to mental health and career exploration. Each session is designed to foster open communication between the FCHS administration, staff, and the wider community, offering valuable information and opportunities for feedback.

The first event, “Our School Turns 100! What Do We Do Next?”, will be held tonight (Thursday) from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on the 2nd Floor Library. Superintendent Robert Wells will lead tours of the school building and discuss upcoming renovations and upgrades. Community members are encouraged to ask questions and share their ideas for the future of FCHS facilities.

On October 29th, FCHS will host, “How Much Did You Say College Will Cost? FAFSA What?”. The evening includes a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) completion session (4:00–6:00 p.m., come and go) for senior students and parents, followed by a real-world discussion on college costs from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Teachers, parents, and former students will be available to answer questions about navigating the complexities and expenses of higher education.

Upcoming sessions will cover a range of valuable topics such as:

Adulting skills: “50 Things My Student Should Know Before They Are On Their Own”

Cooking on a budget for students

Teen and parent mental health

Navigating the “empty nest” stage

Exploring careers and trades beyond college

Online and personal safety, including social media awareness and scam prevention

Updates on FCHS registration and school policies

Each session is scheduled for an hour and a half, but attendees are welcome to come and go as needed. FCHS encourages all community members to participate and help shape the future of the school. Superintendent Robert Wells and the FCHS staff look forward to seeing strong community participation at these informative events.

Future dates and topics will be posted on www.fchsmules.com, the FCHS Facebook page and local media.
