Doris Jean “Nicky” Kuykendall, 84 of Crossville

Doris Jean “Nicky” Kuykendall, 84 of Crossville, Illinois, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Wabash General Hospital in Mount Carmel, Illinois. She was born on Tuesday, January 7, 1941, at home in Crossville, a daughter of Charles Albert “Bud” and Helen Varece (Higginson) Kuykendall.
Doris had worked as a sales clerk for many years first starting when she was young at her family store B and H Sundries and later managing a Huck’s Food and Fuel Store. She was an avid bingo player and greatly enjoyed Elvis Presley music. Doris was straightforward but caring and at times blunt and direct but also kind and compassionate. There was no doubt that she loved her family and enjoyed being with them.
Survivors include a sister, Linda Kay Kuykendall of Crossville, IL; Nieces and Nephews to whom she was like a second mother, Allan Stover of San Angelo, TX, LaDonna (Tom) Grunloh of Enfield, IL, Cindy (Robert) Orrison of Kincaid, IL, Jesse (Rachel) Stover of Mill Shoals, IL and RaJeanna (Michael) Rowe of Enfield, IL; uncle Gene Higginson, aunt Anna Ruth Wiggins, brother-in-law, Ray Stover and Many Great nieces and nephews and cousins.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Lois Stover.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, in the chapel at Roberts and Cook Funeral Service, 108 West Main Street, Crossville, Illinois with Pastor Dave Cochran officiating. Burial will follow immediately at Stokes Chapel Cemetery near Crossville.  Family and friends may visit from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. Roberts and Cook Funeral Service has been entrusted with the arrangements.
