Average gasoline prices in Illinois have fallen by 9.8 cents per gallon in the past week, now standing at $3.18 per gallon, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 4,378 stations statewide.
Prices are now 26 cents per gallon lower than they were a month ago and 28.3 cents per gallon lower compared to this time last year.
The national average price of diesel has also seen a decrease, dropping 3.5 cents from last week to $3.628 per gallon. GasBuddy’s price reports show that the cheapest gas station in Illinois was offering fuel at $2.59 per gallon on Monday, while the most expensive was listed at $4.59 per gallon.
Motorists are encouraged to monitor prices as fluctuations continue across the region.
