The Wayne County Health Department is now offering RSV vaccinations for adults, aiming to protect community members who are at higher risk for complications from the virus.
RSV, or respiratory syncytial virus, can cause serious health problems—especially for older adults and those with certain medical conditions. The department recommends the vaccine for all adults aged 75 and older who have not previously received an RSV shot. Adults aged 50 to 74 with specific underlying medical conditions, such as chronic heart or lung disease, weakened immune systems, diabetes, or chronic kidney disease, are also encouraged to get vaccinated.
Community members can set up an appointment for the RSV vaccination or inquire about insurance coverage by calling 618-842-5166. The Wayne County Health Department is located at 405 North Basin Road in Fairfield.
