The Southern Illinois Diabetes Awareness Group announces the Diabetes Expo 2025, an all-inclusive event focused on raising diabetes awareness, sharing vital resources, and promoting healthy living for those at risk and their families.
The Expo will take place on Saturday, October 25th, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Lions Club, located at 1400 South Main Street in Harrisburg. The event is completely free and welcomes everyone from the Southern 16 counties, including individuals with pre-diabetes, diabetes, their families, caregivers, and anyone eager to learn more about prevention and management.
Those attending will benefit from a wide variety of resources and activities, such as:
Informational booths from local healthcare providers
On-site health screenings, including blood pressure, BMI, glucose, and a full lipid panel for attendees aged 35–75 (fasting is recommended but not required for glucose and lipid tests)
Live demonstrations of the latest diabetes technology, including insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring systems (CGMs)
Informative tables from organizations like Breakthrough T1D, Camp BETA, and the Southern Illinois Diabetes Awareness Group
Tasty diabetic-friendly snacks prepared by SIU
Giveaways every 15 minutes, culminating in a grand prize valued at over $300 at 1:00 PM
Additional attractions, including diabetes-themed T-shirts, food trucks, walking guides, resource guides, and fitness information
In support of another important cause, the Expo will also be collecting used eyeglasses for the Lions Club.
This event is a unique opportunity for individuals to learn more about diabetes, discover new management tools, and connect with healthcare providers and community support groups.
