By Mark Wells Oct 18, 2025 | 6:57 AM
Thursday night  around 9:17, the Clay County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a female found unresponsive in a running vehicle outside a local business in Clay City. The caller reported that the woman had her foot on the accelerator while the truck was running.
Deputies arrived at the scene around 9:21 p.m. and quickly assisted the woman from the vehicle, concerned that smoke coming from the truck could indicate a fire. After shutting the vehicle off, deputies confirmed there was no fire.
While speaking with the woman, deputies suspected she was under the influence and took her into custody. She was transported to the Clay County Sheriff’s Department for processing.
During the investigation, the vehicle’s owner stated that the truck had been taken without permission from Olney, which was later confirmed by the Olney Police Department.
As a result, Hannah J. Lindsey, 23, of Olney, was arrested and charged with Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol and Possession of a Stolen Vehicle. Lindsey appeared in court on October 17 and was granted Pretrial Release under the SAFE-T Act.
