IECC FACULTY ASSOCIATION CLARIFIES MEMORANDA NEGOTIATIONS WITH BOARD OF TRUSTEES

The Illinois Eastern Community Colleges Education Association (IECCEA) is clarifying its position following recent statements by the IECC Board of Trustees regarding two Memoranda of Agreement (MOAs) on faculty evaluations and distance learning education.

While the Board announced it had filed a charge with the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board on September 3, 2025—alleging the Faculty Association engaged in bad faith bargaining—the IECCEA has formally responded and asserts it continues to negotiate in full good faith. According to the Association, its proposals have remained consistent with the language and intent of prior agreements, and suggested clarifications are intended to strengthen faculty evaluations and distance learning processes in ways that benefit students.

IECCEA faculty members emphasize their dedication to collaboration, transparency, and maintaining the high educational standards expected by the community. The Association respectfully disagrees with recent public characterizations of the negotiations, but remains committed to constructive progress and achieving shared goals.

IECCEA leadership affirms its ongoing mission: to ensure that every decision supports quality education, student success, and the long-term strength of the community college system.
