Severe storms Saturday night and Sunday morning left a trail of damage and power outages across several southern Illinois counties, according to the National Weather Service.

Multiple reports of downed trees, damaged utility poles, and debris were received, with at least one incident of a tree limb landing on a vehicle. Perry County, including the city of Du Quoin, saw significant impacts, as residents spent much of Sunday cleaning up fallen trees and storm debris on their properties.

By early Sunday afternoon, hundreds of residents in Perry and Williamson counties remained without power. In addition to tree and property damage, the storms brought hail and wind gusts estimated between 65 and 75 mph in parts of Perry, Franklin, and Hamilton counties, contributing to widespread outages and wind damage.

Wayne-White Counties Electric Cooperative in Fairfield reported that over 1,900 members lost power Sunday morning. Crews worked through the morning to restore service, and power was fully restored to affected areas by early afternoon.
