Two West Frankfort Community High School students were struck by a vehicle on Main Street Saturday night while on their way to the Homecoming Dance, according to school officials.
Superintendent Matt Donkin of West Frankfort Community Unit School District 168 said the incident happened just after 8 p.m. as rain was falling. The students were crossing the street to reach Max Morris Gym when they were hit.
Both students were transported to a local hospital for evaluation and were later released, Donkin said.
