Illinois State Police have released additional details regarding a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred Sunday morning at the east edge of Dieterich.
According to authorities, the crash happened around 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of 2300th Street and East 900th Avenue. The collision involved a pickup truck driven by 39-year-old Nathan Roley of Dieterich and a van driven by 63-year-old Jacqueline Adams of Wheeler. Investigators say Roley’s truck crossed the centerline and struck Adams’ van.
Jacqueline Adams was pronounced dead at the scene. Nathan Roley was airlifted to a regional trauma center for treatment of his injuries.
The roadway was closed for several hours during the investigation and reopened just after 12:30 p.m.
The Effingham County Coroner’s office and the Illinois State Police are continuing the investigation pending the results of the toxicology reports and the Illinois State Police Traffic Reconstruction Report.
