The City of Fairfield Water Department has announced that hydrant flushing will take place between today and Friday. During this period, city employees will be opening hydrants throughout the city as part of regular maintenance to test hydrants and help maintain water quality.
Residents may notice temporary discoloration in their water during the flushing process. The Water Department advises checking water before use, as the discoloration is not harmful but may stain laundry or affect taste. If discoloration occurs, residents are urged to let the water run until it clears.
Hydrant flushing will follow a specific schedule:
Today: 1st Ward- Every hydrant east of 1st St.
Tuesday: 2nd Ward- Every hydrant north of Elm between 1st and 7th St.
Wednesday: 3rd Ward- Every hydrant south of Elm between 1st and 7th St.
Thursday: 4th Ward- Every hydrant west of 7th, stopping at Kincaid’s
Friday- Outlying areas being Walmart, Petroleum Blvd, Brach Oaks, Hwy 45 South, Hwy 15 East to City’s Filter Plant.
Residents with questions or concerns are encouraged to call 842-7015 or 842-5016 during regular business hours, 7am to 4pm. The Water Department assures the community that every effort will be made to minimize inconvenience and ensure public health and safety.
