Week Eight of the NFL season has wrapped up following the Kansas City Chief’s 28-7 victory over the Washington Commanders on Monday Night Football. The week began with the Los Angeles Chargers blowing out the Minnesota Vikings 37-10 on Thursday Night Football. Elsewhere, the Indianapolis Colts improved to 7-and-1 after blowing out the Tennessee Titans 38-14. Aaron Rodgers failed to become the fifth quarterback in league history to beat all 32 teams after the Pittsburgh Steelers fell to the Green Bay Packers 35-25 on Sunday Night Football.

Freddie Freeman crushed a game-winning solo homer in the bottom of the 18th inning to lift the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 6-5 win over the Toronto Blue Jays in Game Three of the World Series. Freeman finished a game that was tied for the longest World Series game in history 2-for-7 with two RBIs. Shohei Ohtani was 4-for-4 with two homers, three runs scored and three RBIs. He also tied the Major League postseason record for most times on base in a single game with nine. Will Klein earned the win on the mound after tossing four scoreless innings of relief to help the Dodgers take a 2-1 series lead. Game Four is tonight in LA.

The St. Louis Blues return home to begin a two-game homestand when they host the Detroit Red Wings at Enterprise Center tonight. The Blues are in last place in the Central Division with just seven points and a 3-5-and-1 record. Tonight’s game starts at 7:15PM.

The Chicago Blackhawks look to get back in the win column when they host the Ottawa Senators at United Center tonight. The Blackhawks are coming off a 3-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings at home on Sunday. Chicago is tied for fifth place in the Central Division with ten points. Tonight’s game starts at 7:45PM.

>>Report: Broncos CB Surtain II Candidate For IR

(Englewood, CO) — The Broncos are likely to be without their top defender for the foreseeable future. ESPN reports that cornerback Pat Surtain the Second is expected to miss multiple games because of a left pectoral strain and is a candidate to be placed on injured reserve. Surtain was injured during the second quarter of the team’s win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday when he made a tackle with under a minute remaining in the first half. Surtain will reportedly not play in Week Nine and is currently being considered week-to-week due to the injury. The 25-year-old would be forced to miss at least the next four games if he is placed on IR. Surtain has totaled 27 tackles and nine passes defended through eight games this season.

(Eagan, MN) — Carson Wentz’ 2025 campaign is coming to an end. The team announced Monday that the quarterback will undergo season-ending surgery on his shoulder later this week. Wentz has started the last five games for the Vikings after JJ McCarthy injured his ankle in Week Two. He passed for 1,216 yards, six touchdowns, and five interceptions this season. McCarthy is expected to return as Minnesota’s starter this weekend against the Lions.

(Pittsburgh, PA) — The Steelers are planning to reunite an old friend with Aaron Rodgers. ESPN reports the team is expected to sign Marquez Valdes-Scantling [[ mar-KWEZ ]]. The wide receiver played with Rodgers when both were on the Packers. Scantling spent four seasons in Green Bay with the future Hall of Famer and will join a receiver room in Pittsburgh led by DK Metcalf.

(Undated) — One of the top players in baseball is being awarded with a major award. Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts has won the Roberto Clemente Award for humanitarian work. Betts was the team’s nominee for the yearly honor that goes to a major league player who represents the sport through character, community involvement, philanthropy and positive contributions on and off the field. The eight-time All-Star founded the 5050 Foundation, donated over 30-thousand-dollars in Nike apparel, founded an AAU basketball program and an eponymous baseball tournament, and contributed 160-thousand-dollars to hunger and homelessness initiatives.

(Undated) — The Pacers are adding one of the more exciting players in basketball. According to ESPN, Indiana is signing guard Mac McClung to a multi year contract. The three-time dunk contest champion most recently spent time with the Orlando Magic, and has appeared in six NBA games. To create space on the roster for McClung, Indiana is planning to waive center James Wiseman.

>>NBA To Address Betting-Related Issues

(New York, NY) — The NBA is launching a full review of betting-related issues as the league deals with its gambling scandal. An NBA memo sent to its 30 teams on Monday said the review is necessary to “protect the integrity” of the league. Some of the proposals include using enhanced AI to identify betting patterns, and how player injuries are reported publicly. Last week, FBI Director Kash Patel announced investigators uncovered an illegal gambling operation as well as a sports betting rigging scheme involving current and former players and coaches.
