Starting Monday, November 10th, Gateway Regional Water Company will temporarily modify its water disinfection process, using Free Chlorine instead of its usual Chloramines. The company plans to revert to Chloramines as the primary disinfectant on December 22.
Customers with health concerns are advised to consult their physicians regarding any potential effects.
The change affects residents served by Gateway Regional Water Company, Western Wayne Water Company; the City of Flora; Clay County Water; and the villages of Xenia, Iuka, Alma, Farina, Patoka, and Vernon. Other impacted systems include the City of Kinmundy, Fayette Water Company, FMC Water Co., and NEMC Water Co., as well as Raccoon Water Co.
