FCHS MULES AND LADY MULES TO COMPETE AT STATE CROSS COUNTRY MEET SATURDAY. FCHS SWIM TEAM COMPETING AT SECTIONALS:
On Saturday, both the Fairfield Mules and Lady Mules Cross Country teams will be in competition at the IHSA State Cross Country Meet at Detweiller Park in Peoria at 10:00 a.m. This is the first time in school history that both the Boys and Girls squads have qualified for State. Boys team members include: Treyton Lewis, Skylar Bladel, Ashton King, Jarret Vaughan, Kanyen Lingafelter, Morgan Spina, and Vance Vanway. Lady Mules team members include: Emeri Sager, Jaycie Couch, Brianna Meeks, Adi Hickey, Remi Taylor, Gabby Zurliene, and Ellanie Vanway.
HIGH SCHOOL SWIM TEAM:
The FCHS Lady Mules Swim team will also be in action Saturday at the IHSA Sectional at Centennial High School in Champaign at 1:00 p.m.

The Blues blanked the Sabres 3-0 from Buffalo. Joel Hofer stopped all 27 shots that he faced to earn the shutout. Mathieu Joseph, Justin Faulk, and Nick Bjugstad [[ B’YOOG-stad ]] netted goals as St. Louis has won two of its last three games. The Blues are in last place in the Central Division with 12 points. They host Seattle tomorrow night.
The Chicago Blackhawks will try to get on a winning streak when they visit the Calgary Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome tonight. The Hawks just snapped a three-game losing streak by beating the Vancouver Canucks 5-2 on Wednesday night. Chicago is in fifth place in the Central Division with 15 points. (Berlin) — The NFL is once again heading across the pond. The Colts and Falcons will face off in Berlin, Germany on Sunday morning. Indianapolis enters the week at 7-and-2, while Atlanta is 3-and-5 this season. This is the sixth of seven NFL games that will be played outside of the United States this season and the only one in Germany. The Colts are 1-and-1 in international games, including a win over the Patriots in Berlin during the 2023 season. The Falcons are 1-and-2 outside of the US, all in the United Kingdom.

Some of the top contests include the Boston Celtics visiting the Orlando Magic, the San Antonio Spurs playing host to the Houston Rockets, the Milwaukee Bucks entertaining the Chicago Bulls and the Golden State Warriors traveling to challenge the Denver Nuggets. (Miami, FL) — The Heat are hoping one of their star players isn’t seriously hurt. Bam Adebayo will miss Friday’s game against the Hornets with a toe sprain. The center already had an MRI and is considered day-to-day. Adebayo got hurt during the first quarter of Miami’s loss to the Nuggets on Wednesday. He’s averaging almost 20 points to go with more than eight rebounds per game this season.

(New York, NY) — A former NBA coach and player is pleading not guilty for his alleged involvement in the NBA betting scandal. Former Cavaliers player and Lakers assistant Damon Jones entered his plea at a New York City federal courthouse, accused of sharing inside information about Lakers players with gamblers. Jones said he understood the charges and bail conditions, with his parents using their home as collateral for a 200-thousand dollar bond. The DOJ says Jones sent a text to a gambler that read: “Get a big bet on Milwaukee tonight before the information is out. Bet enough so Djones can eat!” Jones was charged last month, along with Miami Heat player Terry Rozier in the NBA betting scheme. Portland Trailblazers coach Chauncey Billups was arrested in the same FBI sting in connection with a poker scheme involving the New York mafia.

Mets outfielder Juan Soto won for the sixth time, while Dodgers DH Shohei Ohtani took home the trophy for the fourth time. The Dodgers were named Team of the Year for the second season in a row. The American League Silver Slugger awards will be handed out on Friday.

(St. Louis, MO) — Alec Burleson is taking home some hardware this offseason. The Cardinals slugger won the National League Silver Slugger Award at the utility position yesterday. He’s St. Louis’ first Silver Slugger winner since Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado both won at their positions in 2022. Burleson hit .290 with 18 home runs and 69 RBI’s in 2025.

(Chicago, IL) — Kyle Tucker is taking home some offseason hardware. The Cubs slugger won the National League Silver Slugger Award at the outfield position yesterday. It’s Tucker’s second Silver Slugger Award win in his career. The pending free agent hit .266 with 22 home runs, 73 RBI’s, and 25 stolen bases last season.

ESPN reports Cubs star Kyle Tucker and Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber are among 13 players who were tendered the deal, which pays just over 22-million dollars. Blue Jays speedster Bo Bichette, Astros hurler Framber Valdez and Mets closer Edwin Diaz were also given offers. Players have until November 18th to accept or reject the one-year deal.

ESPN reports that Los Angeles has picked up Max Muncy’s club option for 2026 as the franchise aims for its third straight World Series title. The option will pay the 35-year-old 10-million-dollars next season. With three-time Cy Young Award-winning pitcher Clayton Kershaw retiring, Muncy also becomes the team’s longest-tenured player after joining them in 2017. The infielder became the franchise record holder this fall with 16 career postseason home runs. In other news, the team also picked up their 3.55-million-dollar option for left-handed reliever Alex Vesia.

The 52-year-old will leave his post with the Cleveland Browns after spending the past decade as the franchise’s chief strategy officer. Colorado’s former general manager Bill Schmidt resigned on October 1st following the team’s third straight 100-plus-loss season. DePodesta is known for being Billy Beane’s number-two with the Oakland Athletics during the team’s Moneyball era. The Rockies remain the only team in Major League Baseball without a manager.
