WAYNE COUNTY BOARD SET TO MEET THURSDAY NIGHT

The Wayne County Board will hold its regular meeting on Thursday in the upstairs courtroom of the Wayne County Courthouse. The meeting will open with a prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance, and roll call, followed by approval of the October meeting minutes. Public comments will be heard, including remarks from Pam Barbee representing Southern Workforce 14.

Chairman’s comments and appointments will be addressed before moving on to old business, which includes an update from Dave Shipley of Midwest Internet on the county’s new network installation.
Office reports will be given by the Highway Department, State’s Attorney, Circuit Clerk, Sheriff, County Clerk, Treasurer, Supervisor of Assessments, Coroner, and Health Department.

New business on the agenda includes discussions and resolutions related to ARPA funds (if applicable), a special appellate prosecutor resolution, the Wayne County Hazard Mitigation Plan, the 2026 county budget and levy, and approval of the 2026 courthouse holiday schedule. An executive session may be held if needed, followed by a vote on any executive session matters.

Committee reports will cover Claims/Finance, Sheriff, EMA, Animal Control/Welfare, Road & Bridge, Insurance/Education, Building & Grounds/Safety, Economic Development, Rules & Policy, and the Liquor Commission.
The meeting will begin at 7pm and is open to the public.
