The latest forecast from the National Weather Service in Paducah, Kentucky says a return to more normal temperatures is expected next week, with chances for more rain in the forecast.  Some areas could receive upwards of a couple of inches of rain by the end of next week.

The extended forecasts through the Thanksgiving holiday are indicating a likelihood of above normal temperatures and above normal precipitation.  Beyond that period, toward the end of November and the beginning of December, some forecasts have been hinting at a possible pattern flip, which would result in a much colder temperature pattern and a wet pattern continuing, possibly indicating some snowfall in parts of the Midwest region.

The latest U.S. Drought Monitor Map has not changed much from last week.  It still shows northern Wayne County in Moderate Drought conditions and southern Wayne County Abnormally Dry.  Most of central Illinois is in Severe Drought conditions, while east-central Illinois is in an Extreme Drought.

Area rivers remain low.  The Little Wabash River east of Fairfield is at 4.03 feet.  Flood stage is 17 feet.  At Clay City the stage is 3.88 feet.  Flood stage is 18 feet.  At Carmi the river is at 3.05 feet.  Flood stage is 27 feet.  The Skillet Fork at Wayne City is at 4.92 feet.  Flood stage is 15 feet.  The Wabash River at Mt. Carmel is at 3.06 feet.  Flood stage is 19 feet.  Bonpas Creek at Browns reads 1.82 feet.
