EDWARDS COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD TO HOLD PUBLIC HEARING AND REGULAR MEETING TONIGHT (MONDAY)

The Edwards County Community Unit School District No. 1 Board of Education has announced a Truth in Taxation Public Hearing and its regular monthly meeting tonight (Monday) at the West Salem Grade School Science Room. The public hearing will begin at 6:45 p.m., immediately followed by the regular meeting at 7:00 p.m. The special hearing will focus on the proposed 2025 tax levy. Members of the public will have an opportunity to hear details and provide input regarding the levy, which will be payable in 2026. After the hearing, the Board will hold its regular meeting with a full agenda, including: approval of the 2025 Tax Levy, consideration of a resolution of intent to issue $3,500,000 in Working Cash Fund Bonds, first reading of proposed Edwards County High School curriculum changes for the 2026-2027 school year, discussion and possible approval of adding high school cross country as a sport, approval of field trips exceeding 150 miles round trip, administrative reports on cafeteria operations, sales tax, graduation dates, and special programs, review and action on personnel matters, including resignations, new hires, volunteers, and leaves.

A closed session is also scheduled for the Board to discuss personnel issues and student discipline.
