The West Salem Village Board met in a special session on November 12th to address several key issues. Trustees appointed Tom Smith to fill the vacancy left by the late Karl August Case. Smith will be officially sworn in before the next regular meeting on November 24th.
The board also voted to sell the building at 108 W. South Street, previously leased to the Edwards County Council on Aging for use as the West Salem Senior Center. The ECCOA requested release from the lease earlier this year due to funding constraints. The village will soon seek sealed bids for the commercial property.
Additionally, trustees approved an ordinance for membership in the Illinois Municipal League Risk Management Association, following the selection of an insurance proposal at their October meeting. A new return-to-work policy was also adopted.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on November 24th at Village Hall.
