The Fairfield Grade School Board of Education met Monday night, receiving updates on district finances, services, and compliance, before taking personnel action in closed session. Superintendent, Kristina Gardner reported the district has received 38% of expected revenue and spent 32% of its FY26 budget to date. The Food Service Fund shows a balance of $253,669.14.
The Transportation Report included routine maintenance:
Bus #3: Window and brake switch replacement – $489.11
Bus #5: Oil change, tire pressure, greasing fittings – $254.16
Bus #6: Fluids and filter replacement – $90.38
The board reviewed the tentative tax levy, which reflects an increase of less than 5%, meaning no Truth-in-Taxation hearing is required. Immunization compliance remains high with North Side School – 98.7% compliant, Center Street School – 99% compliant.
The Illinois Report Card lists both schools as Commendable, with district goals focused on increased ELA and math growth. In other business, the board approved a commercial insurance bid from Blank’s Insurance (PSIC), noting a 4.05% premium increase from last year. A first reading of PRESS Policy Update 120 was also held. In personnel action following closed session, the board accepted the resignations of paraprofessionals Selena Musgrave, Deanna Downen, and Kamberlyn Nelson and approved hiring paraprofessionals Ashley McGill, JoAnna Harvey, and Heather Reavill.
