The Fairfield Community High School Board of Education met Monday night for its regular November meeting. Key actions taken by the board included the board approving new course offerings for the 2025–2026 academic year, to be implemented in 2026–2027. The 90-day Certificate of Deposit in the Working Cash Fund was closed.
Plans were approved to develop a new annual magazine to highlight FCHS programs and student achievements and the board passed a resolution to transfer $120,000 from the Working Cash Fund to the Transportation Fund. The District insurance coverage was renewed with Wright Specialty and approval was given to issue a joint letter with Porta High School to the IHSA regarding future rules and regulations. Details will be shared once the draft is finalized.
Stephanie Taylor and Stephanie Johnson were appointed as volunteer girls wrestling coaches for the FY25-26 school year and Marty Keoughan was reassigned as assistant wrestling coach, and Justin Titzer was approved as a volunteer wrestling coach.
Rick White was hired as a long-term substitute teacher. Sharon Benskin was hired as a part-time kitchen worker/supervisor, and Jerry “Theresa” Hopkins was hired as an individual aide.
Items discussed without board action included the School Report Card, the tentative 2025 tax levy for taxes payable in 2026, and the first reading of PRESS Policy 120. The board also heard a Student Focus presentation from teacher Hayden McDuffee and students Lydia Rice and Ellanie Vanway, who shared their experiences participating in Senator Terri Bryant’s Youth Council at Rend Lake.
