The St. Louis Blues snapped their four-game losing streak by beating the New York Islanders 2-1 at UBS Arena on Saturday. Brayden Schenn scored in the first period, while Pius Suter found the back of the net in the second. Jordan Binnington made 30 saves in the victory. The Blues are still in seventh place in the Central Division with 20 points. They visit the Rangers tonight. In other team news, St. Louis waived Alexandre Texier over the weekend.

(Chicago, IL) — The Cubs bolstered their bullpen over the weekend. The Northsiders signed reliever Phil Maton to a two-year deal on Friday. Maton split last season between the Cardinals and the Rangers. He finished with a 4-and-5 record, five saves, and a 2.79 ERA in 63 appearances between the two teams.

(Madison, WI) — The number-21 Illinois Fighting Illini couldn’t keep their offense on the field during a 27-10 loss to the Wisconsin Badgers at Camp Randall Stadium on Saturday. The Illini were outscored 17-3 in the second half of the loss. Luke Altmyer was sacked five times, but he also passed for 248 yards and rushed for a touchdown. Illinois is tied for eighth place in the Big Ten with a 4-and-4 conference record and a 7-and-4 mark overall. The Illini host Northwestern this Saturday.

Harrison Butker nailed his fifth and final field goal to give the Chiefs a 23-20 home-win over the Colts, Cam Little booted a 52-yarder to help the Jaguars ground the Cardinals 27-24 from Glendale and Jahmyr Gibbs scored a near 70-yard rushing touchdown on the first snap of OT to hand the Lions a 34-27 victory over the Giants from Detroit. The Rams blasted the Buccaneers 34-7 on Sunday Night Football to wrap up the hectic day. The week finishes in Santa Clara on Monday Night Football between 49ers and Panthers.

(Inglewood, CA) — The Los Angeles Rams dominated in the first half of a 34-7 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at So-Fi Stadium on Sunday Night Football. The Rams raced out to a 31-7 lead at the break and were able to coast to a win in the second half. Matthew Stafford passed for 273 yards and three scores, while Davante Adams caught a pair of touchdowns. Los Angeles is in first place in the NFC West at 9-and-2.

(Pittsburgh, PA) — TJ Watt is now ahead of a familiar face on the all-time sacks list. The defensive end passed his brother, JJ, after recording his 115th career quarterback takedown in a 31-28 loss to the Bears on Sunday. The 31-year-old wrapped up Caleb Williams in the endzone which led to a fumble recovery for a touchdown. JJ finished his career with 114-and-a-half sacks between the Texans and Cardinals.

(New York, NY) — Portland Trail Blazers head coach and Basketball Hall of Famer Chauncey Billups is expected to plead not guilty to federal charges accusing him of helping lure players unaware of what was going on into rigged poker games Monday. Prosecutors say Billups was among the scheme’s alleged “face cards,” using his celebrity status to draw high-stakes players to poker tables set up with x-ray technology and manipulated shuffling machines. The indictment alleges the games were financed by organized crime families. The 17-year NBA veteran and 2004 NBA Finals MVP is one of 31 defendants charged in the operation. All are scheduled to appear in court Monday to face various counts of wire-fraud conspiracy and money-laundering conspiracy.

According to ESPN, New York and Texas are finalizing a trade that would send second baseman Marcus Semien to the Mets and outfielder Brandon Nimmo to the Rangers. Nimmo would have to agree to waive his no-trade clause for the deal to be approved. The outfielder is set to make over 100-million-dollars over the next five seasons. Semien is set to make 72-million-dollars over the next three seasons.

(Tallahassee, FL) — Florida State football isn’t giving up on its head coach. The school announced on Sunday that Mike Norvell will return for the 2026 season. Norvell will head into his seventh season as the program continues to undergo “changes” for a more competitive future.

Number 16 Georgia Tech lost 42-28 to Pitt on the road, number 21 Illinois fell to Wisconsin 27-10 at Camp Randall and 23rd-ranked Houston fell to TCU 17-14 at home.

(Saint Simons Island, GA) — Sami Valimaki is celebrating his first career Tour victory after winning the RSM Classic at Sea Island Golf Club. Valimaki finished atop the leaderboard by one stroke at 23 under par. Max McGreevy finished in second place at 22 under. Ricky Castillo was third at 21 under par. Nico Echavarria, Si Woo Kim and Lee Hodges finished tied for fourth at 19 under.
