FIRE DAMAGES EQUIPMENT AT GREG DICKEY FARM MONDAY AFTERNOON

A Monday afternoon fire caused significant damage at the Greg Dickey farm, located at 1125 County Road 100 North, just south of Wayne City and north of I-64. The blaze was reported shortly after 1 p.m. and involved an oil tote burning behind a large machine shed.

The Wayne City Fire Department responded, with mutual aid from Fairfield Rural and McLeansboro Fire Departments. Officials with the Wayne City Fire Department reported that two semi-trailers used for storage were completely destroyed, but crews were able to save several others positioned nearby.
Jefferson Fire and Cisne Fire Departments provided station coverage during the incident to ensure readiness for additional calls. No injuries were reported.
Damage is estimated at approximately $35,000. The cause of the fire was determined to be burning trash.
