Efforts to calm concerns in Grayville are underway after misinformation at the November 19th Edwards County Senior Center Board meeting caused widespread alarm about the future of senior services in the community.
Doug Raber, Chairman of the Edwards County Council on Aging, says “it’s all going to be ok,” emphasizing that incorrect information shared at the meeting created unnecessary confusion and concern. The situation prompted news coverage and even brought an Evansville television crew to Grayville.
In response, the community rallied quickly, launching a fundraising campaign for the Grayville Senior Center that has already collected more than $7,000 since Tuesday morning.
Raber confirmed that council leaders have spoken directly with Grayville representatives and that all services have been fully restored while the board reviews the matter. He stressed that there was never any intention to interrupt or harm services for Grayville’s seniors.
To ensure clarity and chart a path forward, the council has scheduled a special meeting for Tuesday, December 5th at 5:30 p.m. in Albion.
