Former Edwards County resident, Brinton Evan Wynder, 88, passed away on November 26, 2025, at Prairie Crossing Living and Rehabilitation Center in Shabbona, Illinois. Brinton was born in Chicago, Illinois, on December 21, 1936, to Evan and Dorothea (Brown) Wynder.

In 1954, Brinton left the familiarity of his hometown of Samsville, Illinois, to pursue a job opportunity. He ventured to Belleville, Illinois, where he began a successful 30-year career at Western Union Telegraph Company. Miss Doris Skees became his bride in 1958 and they celebrated 52 wedding anniversaries before her passing in 2011.

Loyal to only the St. Louis Cardinals, Brinton was a devoted baseball fan. The combination of his enthusiasm for the ball field and his love for his daughters led him to coach their softball teams for many years. His guidance and the shared experiences created many treasured memories.

Brinton was an avid gardener with a passion for growing vegetables. He was known for his green thumb and was proud of his abundant harvests which often produced tomatoes larger than softballs.

Brinton leaves behind two daughters, Valerie J. Stuart of Joshua, Texas, and Natalie L. (Jim) Waters of DeKalb, Illinois; and two grandchildren, Jaclyn (Leif) Henrikson of Palatine, Illinois, and James Waters III of Chicago, Illinois.

Visitation for Brinton Evan Wynder will be held at Nale’s Funeral Home in Albion, Illinois, on Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Brown Cemetery in Samsville, Illinois, on Friday, December 5, 2025, with the funeral procession departing from Nale’s Funeral Home in Albion at 11:00 a.m.
